Take your time to stand still

Melissa Moria employs a labour-intensive, tactile approach. She prepares natural pigments from locally collected and dried flowers, leaves, fungi, etc., with which transparent dyes are transferred onto the canvas. Steam techniques are used for the somewhat firmer organic materials to create different shades. Finally, oil paint provides the more robust colour accents.

She paints intuitively in layers, containing traces of movement and physical exertion. This results in varied landscapes with rich textures and depth, inspired by her impressions collected literally on the spot.
